Thanksgiving Outreach & Employee Appreciation Lunch

Each year, as Thanksgiving approaches, Springmont looks for an opportunity to support those in need in our wider community. This year SPA is hosting a canned food drive supporting Solidarity Sandy Springs. Families who wish to contribute should look for a designated bin in the Pavilion. Items most needed include canned chicken, canned tuna, canned diced tomatoes, canned pineapple, pasta, and pasta sauce in plastic containers - please, no glass. The drive will continue through Friday, November 22nd.

Every year, Springmont faculty and staff look forward to our community preparing dishes so they can enjoy a delicious meal before school lets out for the holidays. Wednesday, December 18th, families are encouraged to prepare a dish, or even send in drinks, paper products, utensils, and to-go boxes to contribute to this much-loved event. There are many ways to contribute; every little bit helps and is so appreciated! Last week, parent Kylie McMaster treated Livia’s Lower Elementary Class to a wonderful presentation about Australia! In addition to learning about the plants and animals native to this continent, children enjoyed learning the Kookaburra song. We are so fortunate to have parents willing to share cultural experiences and areas of expertise as class guests and we know that children benefit from seeing their parents engaged in their school environment. Thank you, Kylie!

As you get ready for the holidays, remember that children love to help in the kitchen! Grating cheese, mixing batter, and rolling out biscuits are just some of the cooking skills Montessori Toddlers practice in class. These activities allow young children to build self-confidence and independence and to feel included and valued in their family or community. Extraordinary!
