Teacher's Assistants

Springmont is accepting applications for Montessori Teacher’s Assistants for ages 18 months to 6 years old, for the 2024-25 academic year (position to begin in late July).  These are full-time positions (Monday-Friday, *see potential schedules below) with compensation commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision and dental insurance, paid time off, and professional development and retirement savings opportunities.

Assistants support the Teacher’s work in the classroom and assist children with lunch, napping, toileting, and outdoor play.  Attention to detail, cleanliness, and order are essential to classroom environments. Assistants collaborate with Teachers to create a nurturing and caring Montessori classroom community where freedom of choice, routines, and clear expectations allow young children to flourish.

The ideal candidate is warm, reliable, organized, and flexible and possesses good written and verbal communication skills and facility with technology. Experience with children is preferred. Previous experience in a Montessori environment is not required; however, candidates must be willing to learn about and implement Montessori classroom practices. Counselor/Psychological Consultant

Springmont is seeking a licensed clinician with specialized experience in working with families and children 18 months to 6 years to serve as a part-time consultant for a premier Montessori school.  Springmont is a board-governed school established in 1963, serving 255 students ages 1½ - 14 and employing 60 faculty and staff. Classrooms utilize AMI Montessori curricula, and students matriculate to competitive, Atlanta-area, private and public high schools.  

Preference will be given to doctoral-level psychologists with commensurate training and background. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Conduct detailed behavioral observations of toddlers, Pre-K and Kindergarten children to assess their developmental needs.
  • Maintain confidential student records and provide regular updates to the division head and educational team.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and provide coverage for addressing urgent concerns across the community in alliance with full-time counselor.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and Student Support Team to recommend and implement classroom modifications and accommodations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing insights and recommendations for outside developmental evaluations and interventions.
  • Interpret psychoeducational reports and integrate findings into actionable plans within the Montessori framework.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated with the latest in early childhood development and Montessori education methods.
  • Coordinate with full-time counselor to provide parent education sessions throughout the year.

Classroom Substitutes

Springmont is currently accepting resumes for Classroom Substitutes to work with children in our Toddler (18 months – 3 years), Primary (3 - 6 years), Elementary (6 - 12 years) and Middle School (12 - 14 years) classes.  Prior experience working with children of various ages is essential and a working knowledge of Montessori education is preferred.  Flexibility is a must.
