Chief Financial Officer

Springmont is searching for an exceptional person with a mind for business and a heart for schools to join our non-profit team immediately.  This is a full-time, senior-level position in independent school finance and requires accounting, management, and basic HR experience and understanding.  Business Office responsibilities span bookkeeping and payroll to strategic financial planning and annual audits.   

Qualifications required:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related School Finance field – CPA experience is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience, preferably in non-profit independent school business and operation
  • Working knowledge of employment-related laws including HIPPA, EEO, FLSA
  • Experience supervising business office personnel

Responsibilities include:

  • Monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to the Head of School and Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees
  • Assisting with annual budgeting, including setting tuition and tuition assistance
  • Managing day-to-day bookkeeping, including general ledger, monthly departmental statements, bank accounts, credit card transactions, and payment plans/receivables
  • Managing vendor contracts and accounts payable
  • Managing benefits and payroll for all personnel in conjunction with HR Manager
  • Preparing annual employment agreements and managing background checks
  • Managing compliance with finance, HR, and workers’ comp laws in conjunction with HR Manager
  • Coordinating annual review of financial data and preparation of tax disclosures.
  • Overseeing business office personnel.

Primary Teacher's Assistant

Springmont is accepting applications for a Montessori Primary Teacher’s Assistant for ages 3 years to 6 years old for the 2024-25 academic year (position to begin in October 2024). This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a Monday - Friday, 7:45 am - 3:45 pm schedule. Compensation is commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision and dental insurance, paid time off, and professional development and retirement savings opportunities.

The Teacher’s Assistant supports the Lead Teacher’s work in the classroom and assists children with lunch, napping, toileting, and outdoor play.  Attention to detail, cleanliness, and order are essential to the classroom environment. The Assistant will collaborate with the Teacher to create a nurturing and caring Montessori classroom community where freedom of choice, routines, and clear expectations allow young children to flourish.

The ideal candidate is warm, reliable, organized, and flexible and possesses good written and verbal communication skills and facility with technology. Experience with children is preferred. Previous experience in a Montessori environment is preferred in addition to experience working with children with special needs. Classroom Substitutes

Springmont is currently accepting resumes for Classroom Substitutes to work with children in our Toddler (18 months – 3 years), Primary (3 - 6 years), Elementary (6 - 12 years) and Middle School (12 - 14 years) classes.  Prior experience working with children of various ages is essential and a working knowledge of Montessori education is preferred.  Flexibility is a must.
