News from the Art Studio: River of Words Winners

April 27, 2020
By Julie Strickland

Five Springmont students have been selected as Winners in the 2020 River of Words Environmental Art & Poetry Project! Pictured below are the winning art entries created by Gabriel Steagall, Gabe Wolfersberger, Brodie Khajavi and Thomas Friedline. Brielle Cliett's poem My Adventure with Ceasar was a 2020 Poetry National Finalist, Category I. The contest, open to K-12th grade students, is part of an international environmental art and poetry project begun in 1995 designed to nurture respect and understanding of our natural world. River of Words encourages students to create art and poetry as powerful communication tools for environmental awareness. Springmont has participated in this contest for 11 years and is proud to have had at least one winner annually!  The official ceremony recognizing the winners was supposed to be Sunday, May 3.
