Dear Families, 

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our “Screen on the Green” event Friday evening – it was a great movie enjoyed with great people!  

With the leaves changing and the colder winds blowing, the season of giving and gratitude is upon us. My family will spend part of the upcoming Thanksgiving Break (November 25-29) at a small cabin in the North Georgia mountains. Between work and my son’s college applications, it’s been a fast-paced fall for my family, and we are looking forward to having time to reconnect with each other and relax. I wish your family a happy and restorative Thanksgiving! 

On December 11th, Springmont will have a Professional Development Early Dismissal (please see the dismissal times below) to enable all employees time to participate in professional development work, followed by a holiday celebration. Our school schedule and childcare offerings rarely allow us to have time with all employees, and this Early Dismissal with no Extended Day, All Day, or Enrichment will allow us to do just that. Other independent schools have regular late starts or early dismissals and more professional days in general; this date is an attempt to build a bit more all-employee meeting time into our calendar with as little impact on families as possible.  

Thank you for supporting our efforts to give employees this opportunity for training and community building! For those who like to plan ahead, we will have our second and final Professional Development Early Dismissal on April 2nd.
