Thinking About What's Best for Your Child Next Year?

I will never really understand why parents want to ‘explore other options’ when their child is happy and doing well. Children who are part of a warm and safe community are primed to learn and thrive, and the learning – academic and social-emotional - that happens at Springmont is unsurpassed. What children learn is similar across most pedagogies. What makes the Springmont student experience stand out is the how. How children learn is equally important, perhaps more so. At Springmont, learning encourages curiosity, authenticity, a global perspective, and a love of learning.
I have been at Springmont long enough to have seen many families leave (because they wanted to ‘explore other options’) and return (because those options didn’t live up to the hype). I’ve also seen numerous families struggle once they leave us…moving from school to school in search of the individualized learning and sense of community they once had at Springmont. And, I’ve been at Springmont long enough to see graduates thrive in high school, college, and beyond – touting their Montessori experiences as instrumental to their successes.
In previous years, I referenced a Harvard Ed Magazine article and a study conducted by NYU, both expounding on why a K-8 school is superior to a K-12. Both indicated that K-8 students have ‘…more positive views of their academic abilities.’ Both mentioned the potential negative social impact of mixing middle and high school students. From the leadership opportunities afforded to younger students to the excitement students have when looking ahead to high school and being involved in that choice, Springmont does it right. Don’t miss out!
Ultimately, what I want you to know is that Springmont’s program (through Middle School) will greatly prepare your student for what’s next…high school. If you do feel the need to explore, please be sure that you include Springmont in your due diligence! Our Elementary and Middle School programs are outstanding, and I’m happy to arrange an opportunity for you to see them for yourself via a tour and/or observation.
Don’t forget…applications for Tuition Assistance via FAST are due by February 1. Recipients must re-apply each year.
