Reflections on the Upper Elementary Ice Cream Social

The ice cream social was amazing. We got to see our friends and play in the park. There were swings and slides. Our parents brought yummy ice creams, popsicles, Italian ice, and ice cream bars. We really enjoyed the ice cream social!

Earlier this week, Upper Elementary Teacher Thomson Chuites presented a lesson on fermentation to the Middle School Science class! Students learned about the different types of fermentation, heard about how and why they became part of food preservation techniques, and then sampled yogurt, kimchi, vinegars, and hot sauces, all fermented by Thomson’s class. Sharing expertise and exploring subject matter beyond textbooks is an essential part of the Springmont student experience. Look for the fermented items to be for sale at the Fermentation Lab Market at the Springmont Festival & Montessori Mile on October 18!
