Primary Celebrates the Lunar New Year

Primary students learned about the Lunar New Year, the Chinese legend of the dragon, and the monoprinting process with Assistant Art Teacher Claire Tadeo. They began by using tempera paint on one side of a large piece of paper which was then folded and pressed so that when opened, a large abstract print was revealed. With the addition of googly eyes and curled strips of paper, these were transformed into colorful dragon heads or full-body dragons, which will be on display in the Front Office for the remainder of the month. Developing an appreciation for art and the creative process are life skills that bring joy and fulfillment, important parts of the Springmont student experience!
