Livia Osorio receives GISA Distinguished Service Award!

As we prepare for Livia Osorio’s retirement at the end of this year, we were thrilled to present her with this award from the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) in recognition of her amazing dedication and service to the children and families of Springmont over the past three decades.
After earning both a Bachelor of Science in Education and a law degree in her native country, Brazil, and serving as a lawyer there for 10 years, Livia came to Atlanta in 1996 to take her first Montessori training and to further her daughter’s education. She earned a Master’s in Montessori Education, became AMI certified in both Elementary and Primary teaching, and has served as an Elementary teacher (Lower and Upper) at Springmont for close to 30 years. She has seen many changes, including the beginning of our Middle School and the construction of the buildings that are now home to our Elementary & Middle programs. Her daughter Marina attended FMSA (First Montessori School of Atlanta, Springmont’s original name), and Livia is also the grandparent of recent graduate Ian Stewart. Her class sleepovers are the stuff of legends and continue to draw huge crowds and raise significant funds for our auction. We thank Livia for her MANY years of loyalty and dedication to Springmont – she has truly impacted more than one generation of Springmont students.
Selena Hamer, longtime Elementary Assistant, has been working alongside Livia this year as she finishes her AMI elementary training and readies herself to become the new lead guide for this wonderful class. We are deeply appreciative to both for working together to create a smooth transition for the children and families.
