Coffee with the Counselors - Nov 12!

The Holidays are Coming …and so are your family and friends!

Please join School Counselors Ann Van Buskirk and Katie Polanco on Wednesday, November 12th, beginning at 8:45 a.m. for Coffee with the Counselors.

As the holidays and their accompanying traditions approach, so do different beliefs, expectations, and opinions. Faced with increased input from well-intentioned others (be it a favorite aunt or a stranger in the grocery store) and an onslaught of frivolity, we may find ourselves losing confidence, patience, and the ability to fully enjoy the holiday season. With increased sensory input and more complex family dynamics, children may also need additional support.

Parents/caregivers are invited to meet with Katie and Ann to discuss how you and your family can navigate the holiday season with grace and courtesy while authentically honoring your own parenting values and family practices. Join them and fellow parents/caregivers to discuss strategies and coping mechanisms ahead of the holidays.

As we all adjust to the end of Daylight Saving Time, students in Thomson’s Upper Elementary class are learning about the Earth’s tilt and the sun's path in the sky, and how they relate to the change of seasons, the amount of daylight we experience each day, and the solstices. Group lessons, followed by independent exploration, are hallmarks of the Springmont Elementary program.

Primary families are reminded to make plans to attend our Primary Open Classroom & Playdate this Wednesday afternoon! This is your chance to spend some time in your child's Primary classroom exploring the Montessori materials and doing activities together. Afterward, connect with fellow parents while children play on the playground. Kindly bring just one vehicle per family to campus.
