Coffee with the Counselors - Jan 21!

The Value of Play
Maria Montessori said, “Play is the work of the child,” recognizing its connection to learning, and Virginia Axline said, “Enter into children’s play and you will find the place where their minds, hearts and souls meet.” As they work and play, children are creating and practicing new skills, mastering new tasks, learning to express their emotions, and navigating social interactions. As we support our children’s growth, this can be fun AND challenging.
Join School Counselor Katie Polanco and Atlanta Wellness Collective play therapist Andrew Wallace on Wednesday, January 21, beginning at 8:45 am, to learn about the value of play from a therapeutic lens. We will explore ways parents/caregivers can feel empowered to better understand and respond to their child’s play, when and how to set limits on play, and how play helps foster emotional development.
All Springmont parents and caregivers are welcome to attend. Kindly click the link in Springmont Weekly News to RSVP so we can plan seats and breakfast treats! Please feel free to include any questions or thoughts as you RSVP. We look forward to seeing you!
