Please join School Counselors Ann Van Buskirk and Katie Polanco for Coffee with the Counselors on Wednesday, February 5th, beginning at 8:45 a.m. February’s topic will be Belonging: Fostering a sense of connection and belonging in our children and broader community. Counselors Ann Van Buskirk and Katie Polanco will lead a conversation about how we can best build a sense of belonging in our children, a timely topic as we anticipate our CommUNITY Celebration on February 22nd! 

Kevin Carroll, author of A Kid’s Book about Belonging, notes, “Belonging is connection, support, comfort and safety.”  Our sense of belonging begins with individual, internal experiences and broadens into belongingness at home, at school, and in the broader community.  We will discuss how to foster belonging in our children and how to support them in creating a community and culture of belonging in their world.  As Dr. Montessori shared in her 1946 London lectures, “We must look to the children as a vehicle for bringing change to humanity.”
