Springmont Implores Nation's Leaders

Springmont joined 46 other Atlanta-area independent schools in signing a public letter imploring legislators to enact “common-sense gun laws” to prevent future school shootings. The letter calls on the nation’s leaders to take action now and ran as an ad in last Friday’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Though much of the attention after a school shooting focuses on public schools, safety is also the top concern at private schools like Springmont. As we approach the end of the school year, it’s time to look back at all the progress our students have made this school year. It’s especially impressive to see how confident and capable our Toddlers are! Eager to help with the tasks of day-to-day living and participate in their classroom communities, they have built fine and gross motor skills, learned tons of new vocabulary, and mastered the sequences needed to start and complete tasks. By nurturing these young students’ curiosity, self-confidence, and intrinsic desire to learn, Montessori enables them to become independent and prepared to think and do for themselves. Extraordinary!

Congrats to Upper Elementary student Mikhail Shaikh & Middle School student Tabor Shiimi-ya-Shiimi on their winning art entries in the 2025 Georgia River of Words Environmental Art contest. Mikhail’s entry (left), A Deer Among the Giant Sequoia Trees, was created using pencil, crayon, and Sharpie, and was selected as a State Winner. Tabor’s photograph (right) is untitled and was selected as a National Finalist. Springmont is proud to have had winners in this competition 15 of the last 16 years!
