Save the Date - Campus Workday - Nov. 9

Many hands will be needed to spread mulch on the trails and to plant native plants and bulbs on the berm between Long Island Drive and the parking lot. Volunteers will also be needed to supervise younger students, allowing parents and older students to complete these tasks. In addition to helping spruce up our campus, this is a great opportunity to come together as a community! A light breakfast will be served. Pull out those work gloves, gather your tools*, roll up your sleeves and let's do some work! Please remember to wear old clothing and closed-toe shoes.

^{*Helpful tools include shovels, pitchforks, landscaping rakes, wheelbarrows, and cordless drills with bulb augers. Please make sure to clearly label any tools you bring!}

“Oh, the Pink Tower, that’s so OG Montessori!” Spoken in passing by an Upper Elementary student who has been at Springmont for 7+ years, these words remind us of the long-lasting impact of the classroom materials so carefully designed by Dr. Montessori. Hands-on, multi-sensory, and self-correcting, they promote independence, concentration, and a deep love of learning while isolating a single concept, such as size, in the case of the Pink Tower. These sensorial materials develop visual perception, fine motor skills, concentration, and spatial awareness and serve as a foundation for learning math concepts, such as the base-ten number system, in the future. Extraordinary!

This past Friday evening, families from all three Toddler classes came together for a Potluck Picnic! In addition to enjoying food and conversation with one another, this event enables families with young children to feel connected to each other and the school community, fostering a sense of belonging. Thank you to Room Parents and teachers for organizing this!
