Basketball Grant!

August 27, 2018
By Julie Strickland

Springmont would like to thank Constellation Community Champions for their generous grant of $500 to the Springmont basketball program.  The grant will be used to offset the cost of this Enrichment program, allowing students who might otherwise have hesitated due to financial considerations to be a part of our fledgling basketball program.

Springmont hopes to build upon the success of last year’s boys’ team by adding a girls’ team this fall. As an official member of the league, this year Springmont’s teams will be able to participate in the tournament at the end of the season. Registration, open to 5th-8th year students will be part of the next Enrichment enrollment offerings that open in late September. Practices and games begin in late October and run through the end of January. Stay tuned for details!

Volunteer of the Year

August 20, 2018
By Julie Strickland

Our 2017-18 Volunteer of the Year is Carol Santos! Carol has been an active volunteer at Springmont for several years, touching nearly every facet of school life. Last year alone, she served on the Development Committee, chaired Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day, served in a lead role on the Auction committee, hosted the Leadership Donor Reception, and supported our students, faculty, staff and community in countless ways. Not only is she talented and hard-working, but her generosity of spirit is an example to all who meet her.  Thank you for all you do for Springmont, Carol!

Animal Update

August 17, 2018
By Julie Strickland

During the summer, Franklin, Oscar, Emmy, King, Duke, our new tortoise Shelby, and the flock of chickens continued to thrive. We even had two hens hatch three chicks over the break! But most exciting of all is today's arrival of two new foster goats - 8-month-old brother and sister Kiko-Boer and dairy mixes. The barnyard feels complete!

From grocery shopping to hiking, swimming and boating, students and teachers enjoyed opportunities to be collaborative and interdependent and to develop mutual respect. An overnight visit from our new Head of School Jon Alden was a special surprise!
