Dear Families, 

During the holiday season, I am always reminded how lucky I am to be part of a school community. At Springmont, we have been surrounded by excitement and good cheer and treated to wonderful events, from book fairs and classroom luncheons to recitals and plays!   

Light is a symbol in so many holiday traditions. As I contemplated what that light symbolizes, I realized that Springmont serves as a light for our families in so many ways. The spark nurtured in your child becomes brighter as they learn and grow; a lightbulb idea after exploring new materials or talking with peers; the discovery that light travels only in straight lines during a science lesson; the enlightenment that comes from sharing different cultures, traditions, and points of view; the light of a friendly smile welcoming you to Springmont. 

We can be a light both in our own lives and a light for others. I am inviting all parents and guardians to a book discussion on Dignity: Its Essential Role in Resolving Conflict by Dr. Donna Hicks on January 30th from 4:30-6 pm. This book has served as a touchstone text for our community this year, helping us navigate ways to maintain our own dignity and the dignity of those around us. This book gets to the heart of our shared humanity, as well as the need to respect all the ways in which we are diverse. Consider gifting yourself and loved ones with this book and join us in unpacking its important messages. More details and a sign-up will be shared in early January.
