Earth Day is Tomorrow!

April 21, 2025
By Julie Strickland

This year’s Earth Day theme is Our Power, Our Planet! In keeping with our commitment to Stewardship of the Environment, students will participate in various activities aimed at protecting our planet and conserving power.

  • To raise awareness about our electrical energy consumption and simple strategies to reduce our daily power usage, plans include a school blackout. Classrooms will maximize use of natural light sources and try to minimize use of electrical energy. Teachers and students will reflect on the gift of electricity and discuss the difference that turning off lights, computers, or other electronic items can make.
  • All classes will gather on the Field at the end of the morning work period to appreciate our wonderful Earth and sing “This Pretty Planet” by John Forster and Tom Chapin. Students who would like to share a poem or an offering will be invited to do so. Look for photos on social media!
