Toddler & Primary Parent Education Afternoon

January 13, 2020
By Julie Strickland

All Toddler parents are invited to attend Let the Children Play on January 23, 4:15-5:45 in Remzije's classroom. As young scientists, budding engineers and experimental psychologists, Toddlers learn about the world through play. Toddler Teachers Zaiba Farooqui and Remzije Shala will discuss age-appropriate games and toys and what to look for when purchasing items for your child. They will also share effective words and positive discipline techniques that will allow for independent, creative play.

All Primary parents are invited to attend Building Your Child’s Brain Through Research-based Sensory Experiences on January 23, 4:15 - 5:45 in Dajar's classroom. Montessori classrooms have been described as gymnasiums for the mind, and nowhere is this more evident than in the Sensorial area of Primary classrooms. Modern brain scans verify how repeated sensory experiences stimulate interconnectivity and create higher-level thinking. As a child’s sensory center develops, academic concepts are more fluidly processed, and knowledge rapidly accumulates. Springmont’s Primary Teachers will discuss where each sense is stimulated and how the materials in the classroom are used to cultivate learning.  They will also suggest activities that can be done at home to keep your child’s sensorial mind working and his/her brain activated.

No need to RSVP for these drop-in workshops; stay for a few minutes or the whole time. Demonstrations will begin every 15 minutes. Childcare will be available for Springmont Toddler & Primary students.
