Coffee with the Counselors - Jan 8!

Please join School Counselors Ann Van Buskirk and Katie Polanco for Coffee with the Counselors on Wednesday, January 8th, beginning at 8:45 a.m.

January’s topic will be Addressing Perfectionism. Join Ann and Katie to explore the crossroads of growth versus perfection and how to balance goals (or New Year’s resolutions!) while still allowing room and grace for mistakes. All parents and caregivers are welcome and encouraged to bring other concerns and discussion topics, too! Every other year, Springmont’s Middle School students participate in Future City, an international, hands-on STEM program designed to help them discover engineering and apply math and science concepts to real-world problems. Starting with the question - how can we make the world a better place? - students imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future that showcase their solution to a citywide sustainability issue. This year’s challenge is to create a floating city that keeps its citizens healthy and safe. In preparation for the January 25 Georgia regional competition, students have done research and written essays and are putting the final touches on their models and presentations ahead of the Q&A sessions with the judges, who are STEM professionals.
