Author Carmen Agra Deedy to Visit Springmont May 6!

Carmen Agra Deedy is an internationally known, award-winning author of children's literature and storyteller. Carmen has performed across the United States and Canada and is the author of twelve children’s books. Funny and insightful, Deedy’s stories are culled from her childhood as a Cuban refugee in Decatur, Georgia. She is host of the four-time Emmy-winning children’s program, Love That Book! Carmen will perform for Primary afternoon children, Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary students.

Little Shop of Stories is offering 6 of her books for pre-purchase. All books will come with autographed bookplates, and 20% of sales will support Springmont's library. See the link in Springmont Weekly News to place your order due by 11:30 PM on May 6.

It wouldn’t be spring at Springmont unless Elementary classrooms were home to baby chicks! Ellen’s Upper Elementary students, pictured here, are experts at ensuring these little ones have the food, water, and warmth they need. Students also make sure our flock is accustomed to human touch, helping them become friendly, intelligent, and sociable. In addition to learning how living things grow and change, students practice responsibility, patience, and empathy and gain a deeper appreciation for the world around them. Extraordinary!

Thank you to everyone who helped make Denim & Diamonds, Springmont’s 60th Anniversary Auction, a resounding success! Celebrating this milestone and raising funds for the many things that make Springmont so extraordinary was possible due to the efforts and generosity of our volunteers, teachers and staff, sponsors, and attendees, including alumni families and special guests, Joe Seidel and Lilian Bryan.
